Our Mission
The Unframed Arts Collective transforms unconventional spaces into artistic vehicles for healing, resource-sharing, and community-building for low-income New Yorkers with sensitivity to the needs of the unhoused community.
We bridge creativity with critical survival tools in a model directly informed by those most impacted.
Our Values
Freedom
of
Expression
We hope to equip participants with the necessary tools and space to promote their self expression. We are strong defenders of the freedom of artistic expression and the voices of our guests.
Cultural Enrichment
We believe that a part of addressing the worth of an individual is respecting the identity of each individual we serve. Exposure to the tangible diversity of our community equips individuals with the compassion to engage with others. By platforming the work of our artists, we contribute to the cultural enrichment of our community and New Yorkers.
Commitment
to
Equity
We understand our culture’s support of systemic marginalization of minority groups and unhoused populations. We understand and acknowledge that our work must be a response to current social and political issues to address injustice in its various forms.
Safety
We uphold an unconditional space where participants feel comfortable as they freely express their ideas and beliefs and are welcome to join us as they are no matter their race, gender, immigration status, ability, housing status, economic status, sexual orientation, etc.
Healing
We recognize the arts as a tool for healing in the larger process of addressing trauma. Additionally, we utilize the arts as a method of combating the dehumanization of unhoused people and clarifying that human need.
